Sheffield anti-knife crime campaigner encourages young people to use 'words not weapons'
Anthony Olaseinde has been helping young people in the city make music to raise awareness about knife crime
An anti-knife crime campaigner is calling for more young people in South Yorkshire & North Derbyshire to 'release their frustrations' by getting creative.
Anthony Olaseinde has been working on a new initiative in Sheffield called 'words not weapons'.
He's helped over 30 teenagers in the city put together two songs to try & raise more awareness around the dangers of knife crime:
"This has a project has had a really positive impact & has made a difference in my opinion.
"It also sheds a light on how many people get affected by knife crime.
"It's been going on for far too long now and something needs to be done.
"Projects like 'words not weapons' address the issue directly.
"The idea came from speaking to young people when we were at risk of losing funding for our youth clubs.
"They told me they'd feel lost without a youth club to go to, and we worked on these expressions creatively afterwards as a group."
The 'words not weapons' showcase event is set to go ahead in Sheffield later this evening at a recording studio in the city from 6.15pm-7.45pm.
