Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Tyler Onyango is set to sit out most of the 26/27 League One season, after suffering a serious injury in Owls opening win over Leyton Oreint.

Onyango limped off during the 2-1 away win, his first competitive fixture for Owls.

Speaking to the Owls website, head coach Henrik Pedersen said: “I am so sad for Tyler, he has suffered an ACL injury and will be out for a long period. It could be all season, it will be long term for sure, and we must wait for the exact timeframe.

“Tyler is with the physios and the doctor and his situation will become more clear, for now we must wait.

“We wish him the very best in his recovery.”
