Two more areas of Sheffield are to get 20mph zones to make city streets safer.

Beaver Hill in Handsworth and Arbourthorne are the latest areas where the introduction of 20mph zones on residential streets has been approved by Sheffield City Council’s transport, regeneration and climate policy committee (March 18).

The council has had a policy to introduce 20mph zones citywide since 2011. So far, 74 20mph areas have been completed, plus 12 child safety zones.

Residents in the affected areas were sent letters and colour plans, advising them of how to comment on the proposals.
