Two charged with attempted murder and 50 weapons seized after Page Hall disorder
A knuckle duster and a broom handle with a knife attached were among items seized
Two people have been charged with violent disorder and attampted murder after violence in the Page Hall area of Sheffield earlier this week.
Bartolomej Mizigar, 38 and of Hinde Street, and Jan Mizigar, 21 and of Chequer Avenue on Doncaster, were arrested on Tuesday after a crash and an assault outside a petrol station.
Both appeared before Sheffield Magistrates' Court earlier, with Mizigar addtionally charged with dangerous driving and driving without insurance..
Police stepped up stop and search powers earlier this week after several fights involving weapons.
A 37-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of assault and a 41 year old man is being held on suspicion of making threats to kill.
Additionally a 30 year old man arrested on suspicion of assault and a 28 year old man detained on suspicion of weapons offences have both been bailed.
Officers have seized 50 items which could be used as weapons, including a knuckle duster, a broom handle with a knife attached to the end and prams filled with bricks.
Extra patrols will remain in place over the weekend.
James Lawson, of South Yorkshire Police, said: "Officers have been working proactively to seize weapons and carry out stop searches in the Page Hall area following the disorder witnessed earlier this week.
"No one wants to see this kind of criminality on their doorstep and I hope our policing response shows that we take the threat of disorder incredibly seriously.
"We will keep working alongside partners to build a safer and stronger neighbourhood in Page Hall and will continue to take appropriate action against those who threaten the safety of members of this community."
