Former South Yorkshire Police officer jailed after forming relationship with victim
The 62 year old has been handed a year and nine months behind bars.
A former South Yorkshire Police officer been jailed for a year and nine months after admitting two counts of misconduct in a public office - after he formed a relationship with a victim of crime.
Christopher Cave, 62 and from Formby in Liverpool, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court earlier today for sentencing.
While working as an officer in Nottinghamshire in 2004, Cave formed a sexual relationship with a victim of crime, which persisted until early 2011.
The allegations surfaced in 2022 while Cave was employed at South Yorkshire Police as an evidence review officer.
He was subsequently arrested and suspended in June 2022.
Cave served as an officer with SYP from 2010 to 2017, later returning in staff and evidence review roles before officially resigning in December 2023.
Detective Constable Nicola Milner, of South Yorkshire Police, commented: "Cave crudely and blatantly abused the trust placed in him as a police officer and the victim in this case remains at the forefront of our minds."
"His conduct fell well below the standard that is expected of our officers and we welcome the result of today's sentencing in court."
