Fans of Sheffield Wednesday tell us they're 'surprised' & 'relieved' not to be facing any points deductions next season.

The Owls were expected to start in League One on -15 points following their relegation from the Championship.

However, the EFL decided not to punish Wednesday - due to ex-owner Dejphon Chansiri's unwillingness to negotiate in administration.

Paul Taylor - from the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Trust - thinks it's the right call:

"Given the circumstances the new owners found themselves in - with somebody who wasn't willing to discuss things with them really or cut a deal; it left them with nowhere to go.

"I think it's entirely reasonable that the EFL have seen this and recognised the club is on its knees and can't be battered any more than it already has been.

"The Arise Consortium had tried to negotiate with Dejphon Chansiri, and to nobodies surprise at all, he wasn't amenable to that.

"I think the EFL saw how sort of intransigent the guy was, and I think that helped to make the case really."

The Arise Consortium - led by American businessman David Storch - completed their takeover at Hillsborough over the weekend.
