Dejphon Chansiri has been actively trying to sell the club for the last few months

There are fresh calls today for Sheffield Wednesday's owner to be more 'rational' in his approach to selling the club.

The Owls have just 15 senior players under contract ahead of next season - which begins on Sunday for Henrik Pedersen's side at Leicester.

Staff & players haven't been paid on time for the last 3 months - while the North Stand isn't currently 'safe' to use at Hillsborough.

Chesterfield's Labour MP - Toby Perkins - says Dejphon Chansiri needs to compromise over the price of the Championship club:

"He's asking for an unrealistic price. I think that many of the issues that will face any new owner are transparent and known about.

"This will all impact what the business is worth; so, if you aren't someone who is buying it because you love the club, but because you see it as a business investment - then the price has to be right."

He's also backing any of the first team staff who choose to go on strike:

"The future of Sheffield Wednesday has to be without Chansiri - and in the short term, sometimes taking steps that get you more quickly to that position might speed up what is happening.

"These are people who have a short career, and their livelihoods are on the line.

"These footballers might well question whether or not they're insured if they get a career changing injury while they're lacing up for the Owls in the current climate."
