Operation Stovewood: Barnsley man charged with rape of child 15 years ago
He's been arrested as part of the probe into historic sexual abuse in Rotherham
A Barnsley man has been charged with serious sexual offences against a child in Rotherham, as part of the investigation into historic abuse in the South Yorkshire town.
36 year old Mohammed Zafran Ramzan stands accused of five counts of rape against a 15 year old victim between 2007 and 2008.
He appeared before Sheffield Magistrates Court today (August 1).
Ramzan has been released on conditional bail ahead of an appearance at Sheffield Crown Court on August 29.
He has been questioned as part of Operation Stovewood, the investigation into sexual exploitation in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.
