South Yorkshire officers given national award after saving bus drivers life
National awards have been given to two Doncaster response officers after saving the life of a bus driver.
PC Tony Tighe and PC Nick Deakin responded to an emergency involving a bus driver who had collapsed at the wheel while driving in Doncaster.
They began CPR, delivering chest compressions with unwavering determination for 11 minutes until paramedics arrived.
South Yorkshire police stated:
"Despite the physically demanding nature of continuous chest compressions, as well as being in the middle of a live dual carriageway, both officers remained focused and determined, demonstrating exceptional courage and professionalism under immense pressure.
Thanks to their efforts in those critical early moments, the man not only survived but has since recovered."
