Sheffield United have signed defender Ki-Jana Hoever on loan from Wolves for the remainder of the season, marking their first move in the January window.

"It is no secret that we need to strengthen on the right side, and during discussions about personnel in that area going forward, Ki's name was always one which featured prominently as he possesses quality": said Blades boss Chris Wilder.

"The loan market tends to be one which intensifies later in the window, so to have this deal completed is a huge boost for us.

"Ki is still a young man, but he's experienced plenty in his early career. To have been at some of the clubs he has represented just shows how highly rated he is.

"What I like about him though is the desire to go and play. He now knows what it takes to be successful at this level, and by his own admission, he's really matured, on and off the pitch. He's ready to take the next opportunity in his career and we're delighted to have added him to our squad, not least for balance."

Hoever began his football journey at Ajax before moving to Liverpool in 2018, where he made his senior debut in January 2019 during an FA Cup tie against Wolves.

During his time at Liverpool, he became the club's youngest-ever player in the competition and scored his first goal in a cup match against MK Dons in September 2019.

The Dutch defender joined Wolves in 2020 in a £9 million deal and gained further experience with loan spells at PSV Eindhoven, Stoke City, and Auxerre.

At Stoke City during the 2023-24 season, Hoever impressed with four goals in 44 appearances, including a significant number of starts. He followed this up with a successful stint in France’s Ligue 1 with Auxerre.

This season, Hoever returned to Wolves and made eight Premier League appearances, his latest coming against Brentford in December.
