Additional police patrols are to continue this weekend in the Tinsley area of Sheffield, a week on from a shooting which left a man seriously injured.

The victim, in his 30s, is now in a stable condition after being hit in Greasbro Road at 10:55pm on Sunday (April 5).

Police say they are still working to understand the circumstances surrounding the shooting and to identify those involved, while providing reassurance to the local community.

Extensive CCTV footage has been reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Superintendent Martin Simcock of South Yorkshire Police said:

"We will not tolerate firearms crime in our communities, but we need the help of our communities to stamp it out."

"This was a disgusting attack that could have led to another senseless death. Thankfully, the victim is stable, but he and his family will have been put through hell by this experience.

"I am urging anyone with information that could aid our investigation to please get in touch. It is vital that we find the person responsible for this crime and bring them to justice."
