Police say they're working 'at pace' to trace those responsible for the shooting of a man in Sheffield on Christmas Day.

The 20 year old suffered life threatening injuries on Wilfred Drive in Darnall and remains in a critical condition.

Four men arrested on Boxing Day have been released on bail.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area, with locals being thanked for helping the police.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles said: “We called upon the public to get behind us in tackling those intent on causing harm in our communities, and I’m delighted that they heeded this message.

"Since that night, many of you have come forward to share information, and to speak with our officers in good faith.

"That flow of information is vital. Each detail—no matter how small—helps us refine lines of enquiry and close in on those we are keen to speak to in relation to this investigation."
