A reckless driver has been jailed after leading police on a chase through Sheffield, crashing into multiple vehicles.
Kai Haddington, 27 and of Lamb Drive, was first spotted by officers in his blue VW Caddy driving through a red light on Penistone Road in Sheffield.
He failed to stop for an unmarked police car and led them on a pursuit, during which he rammed police cars trying to force him to stop.
Haddington then lept out of the passenger side and fled on foot, before being caught byba police dog.
He caused over ÂŁ20,000 worth of damage during the crash.
He admitted the offences against him and was jailed for 14 months, while also being slapped with a 37 month driving ban.
PC James Ball of South Yorkshire Police said: “As roads policing officers, we have sadly experienced first hand the devastation that negligent and reckless drivers cause to innocent people and families.
“We are committed to creating safe roads, and we will put those who pose a risk before the courts.
“The roads are a safer place without Haddington and I am pleased he will now face a custodial sentence for his actions, all of which could have been avoided with responsible driving.”
