Three Sheffield road crossing schemes have taken a step forward with an agreement to spend £90,000 on initial investigations.

The areas being looked at are:

Broad Lane in the city centre at the junction with Rockingham Street;

Stradbroke Road outside Outwood Academy, Stradbroke;

Hollybank Road at the junction with Mansfield Road, Intake.

Sheffield City Council’s finance and performance policy committee agreed to the proposals on Monday (March 16).

The City Region Sustainable Transport Revenue funding of £90,000 will pay for feasibility works on pedestrian improvement schemes.

They aim to increase road safety for all pedestrians including those with impaired mobility, cyclists and drivers to reduce potential risk of collisions by

installing three new pedestrian crossings.

They will improve the visibility of oncoming traffic to drivers and pedestrians and aim to create an environment where more people feel safer towalk, wheel and cycle.

The work should be finished by the end of 2028.
