A Sheffield man has been jailed for 14 years for two separate violent attacks which left a man and a woman with serious injuries.

Mark Warren, 30 and of Morland Road, was first arrested after he was seen fleeing a flat on his home street in June 2025 covered in blood.

Police arrived to find a man inside with life-threatening injuries.

Though the man recovered, he continues to experience lasting effects from the assault.

Forensic investigations revealed two bloody fingerprints matching Warren.

In the same month, Warren assaulted a second victim in a sustained attack at a property in Gleadless.

The victim was strangled multiple times, as well as being punched and kicked.

She managed to escape and report the incident to police.

Warren was apprehended after attempting to evade arrest, with the help of Police Dog Rocco and his handler.

Originally facing charges including attempted murder, Warren pleaded guilty to two counts of grievous bodily harm and intentional strangulation in October 2025.

On Monday (April 13) Warren was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court to 14 years in prison with an additional five-year extended licence period.

Detective Constable Tayla Russell, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

"Mark Warren is a violent man who has left a lasting impact on both of the victims he viciously assaulted.

"I hope this sentence brings them some closure knowing that justice has been carried out.

"Warren was described at sentencing by the judge as a 'dangerous offender' who needed an extended licence period to 'safeguard the public' and I am glad he will now be off the streets of South Yorkshire for a considerable time."
