A former Sheffield church which was later used as a community centre could soon have a new lease of life as a place of worship again.

Planning permission is being sought from Sheffield City Council to turn the Arbourthorne Centre on Edenhall Road into a Hindu place of worship.

Plans submitted to Sheffield City Council to convert the Arbourthorne Centre into a Hindu place of worship, complete with an ornamental facade

The vacant detached building, which went up for auction last October with city firm Savills and was sold for £172,000, was originally built as a church in the 1950s but later became a community centre.

The application seeks a change of use of the building plus the addition of a single-storey side extension and an ornamental fascia to the entrance.
