Sheffield burglar jailed after dropped vape links him to crime scene
Corey Rogers targeted homes in order to steal high end vehicles
A Sheffield burglar who stole multiple cars has been jailed - after he dropped his vape at one of the crime scenes.
21 year old Corey Rodgers, of no fixed address, went on a spree of thefts from January 19 until January 21.
He broke into five homes and attempted to target a further two, stealing four vehicles including a Mercedes GLA, a BMW, a Cupra, and a Jeep Avenger.
A vape was later found dropped at a crime scene in Rotherham, with DNA linking it to Rodgers.
Clothing seized during his arrest matched CCTV footage and a video of a stolen car was discovered on his phone.
Rodgers was charged with seven burglaries, including the theft of cash and jewellery from an elderly woman in June 2025, as well as two attempted burglaries and four counts of vehicle theft.
He'll serve a five year three month sentence.
Investigating Officer Ellie Davies of South Yorkshire Police said: “Rodgers is a prolific offender and I’m pleased he is now behind bars where he’ll be unable to cause any further harm to communities across South Yorkshire."
“Teams from across the force have worked together to secure this conviction and I hope a prison sentence can bring a sense of closure to those who found themselves on the receiving end of his criminality."
