Rother Valley Waterfront cafe granted new alcohol and live music license

The Waterfront cafe at Rother Valley Country Park will be allowed to serve alcohol and host live music.
The development, which opened in April, was part of a £8 million project. It includes a lakeside cafe with an outdoor terrace, children’s play area, and an upstairs function space for events and community gatherings.
A licensing application was approved by the council after no objections were were made by residents living nearby.
The venue is allowed to sell alcohol to be consumed on and off the premises every day of the between 11am and 11pm.
Live music performances have been approved for inside, every day of the week between 9am and 11pm.
Films and play performances can also take place between 9am and 10pm.
Polly Hamilton, service director for culture and leisure at Rotherham Council said: “The Waterfront at Rother Valley Country Park is part of a multi-million-pound investment into Rotherham’s country parks. It represents a landmark investment that will enhance regional and local tourism, providing visitors with a new café, panoramic views of the park, and a multifunctional event space that can be used for celebrations, parties, and conferences.
“In order for a variety of packages to be offered in the event space, we have applied for a license to play live and recorded music and to sell alcohol on the premises. To ensure the safety of residents and employees, there are a number of safety measures in place,” she said.
“As the venue is close to open water, all staff are provided with water safety awareness training, and CCTV must be in use. Due to alcohol being served at the venue, an age verification process must be carried out for anyone purchasing alcohol and there is a requirement in place that all children should be accompanied by an adult after 7pm.”
