Police warning after child injured in attack involved pocket bully dog in Sheffield
A dad walking with his child were injured in the attack last week
A man and a young girl have both been injured during an attack involving a loose pocket bully type dog in Sheffield.
Police were called to Catherine Road on October 3 after a dad walking with his child were approached by the dog, who then bit the child - injuring her shoulder.
Her father also suffered injuries to his arm while trying to protect his daughter.
The owner is reported to have collected the dog and left the scene, however the animal involved has now been seized.
It's led to a fresh warning from South Yorkshire Police, who say they deal with five incidents involving dogs every day.
Inspector Steve Usher of the Dangerous Dogs Team within South Yorkshire Police said:
“We continue to see incidents of dogs causing harm or fear across South Yorkshire, and the seizing of dogs and investigating crimes continues to put unprecedented demand on our officers and force.
“Every day we receive on average five calls to report of dogs causing fear or harm in South Yorkshire.
"Responding to these incidents takes officers away from other frontline duties and can ultimately be avoided.”
