Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that assistant boss Henrik Pedersen has been promoted to manager, following the departure of Danny Rohl.

He first joined Owls in October 2023 and was part of the coaching staff who helped to secure Championship survival.

The Dane previously held a string of jobs with Red Bull teams in Salzburg and Ghana.

He also managed Eintracht Braunschweig, Strømsgodset & Vendsyssel FF.

Pedersen steps into the shoes of his departing German colleague at a difficult time for Owls, with reports of another month of payment issues at Hillsborough.

The club have also been told they cannot legally use the north stand at the ground for safety reasons.

A long-promised sale by Chairman Dejphon Chansiri is still yet to materialise.

Owls get their Championship season underway on the road against Leicester on August 10.
