Viral Ronnie O'Sullivan mural in Sheffield "not even finished yet"
The owner of the snooker club where the mural has been painted says its a "statement piece"
An artist and a snooker club owner both say a mural of Ronnie O'Sullivan painted in Sheffield is unfinished, after it was criticised for the sporting great's 'zombie like' apperance.
The art is on the back of the Spot On Snooker Club on Langsett Road, with artist Chris Ashmore posting on Facebook: "The weirdest part is seeing everyone talking about something that, in my head, isn’t even finished yet"
"I know it’s not perfect. I can see the bits I want to improve and I’ll get as much sorted as I possibly can when I can safely get back up there."
Dan Kirkland, who is in charge of the Spot on Snooker Club told us "It's definitely got people talking, hasn't it?"
"And it was always intended to be a statement piece and for people to talk about and celebrate the greatest player who's ever lifted a queue and played snooker.
"I think it's been really interesting how it's kind of over the last few days, it's grown legs and an online life of its own."
O'Sullivan, a member of snooker's legendary "Class of '92", has won the World Championship at Sheffield's Crucible seven times.
Speaking on the artwork, and the artist, Dan added: "You know what? I think when you put yourself out there, you are incredibly brave to be doing street art and murals and things like that because you've got the world's critics and you've got the diverse general public who have their own opinions."
"As a street artist, there's no place to hide while you're actually doing the work. So people might see it and think it's all finished....
"So, you know, anyone who does this work commands or should command a lot of respect."
