Murder investigation underway following man's death in Doncaster

A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 32-year-old man in Doncaster.
Emergency services were called to reports of an injured man in Wordsworth Avenue in the Balby area at 7.03pm last night (Friday 10th July 2026) after
They discovered a man with a serious knife injury who was subsequently taken to hospital.
Despite medical efforts, he passed away.
The man's family has been notified and is being supported by specialist officers.
A police presence remains at the scene on Wordsworth Avenue.
Detective Inspector Matthew Bolger from South Yorkshire Police said:
"While our investigation into this tragic incident is still in its early stages, we have a team of detectives working at pace to piece together the circumstances of what happened yesterday evening."
Inspector Bolger also mentioned the impact of knife crime on communities and urged anyone with information to assist the investigation.
