Man charged with criminal damage after reports wreaths in Sheffield damaged

A man has been charged with criminal damage after it was reported that wreaths at a war memorial in Sheffield were damaged.

Police were called to Barkers Pool - a 38 year old from Chesterfield has been charged with outraging public decency and criminal damage.

A South Yorkshire Police statement said: "A Derbyshire man has been charged with criminal damage after it was reported that wreaths at a war memorial in Sheffield were damaged.

"At 8.26am on Saturday (6 June) we were called to reports that a man had damaged a wreath at the Sheffield cenotaph at Barker’s Pool.

"Officers attended and arrested a man at 8.47am the same day in connection.

"Daadir Faragab, 38, of Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, was charged with an act of outraging public decency and criminal damage to property of a value under £5,000.

"He has been remanded into custody ahead of a hearing at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 8 June)."
