League One strugglers Rotherham have moved quickly to appoint Lee Clark as manager after sacking Matt Hamshaw.

Only four hours after announcing the departure of Hamshaw following Tuesday night’s 5-0 hammering at Peterborough, the Millers named former Huddersfield and Birmingham boss Clark as his replacement.

Clark, whose most recent managerial role was with Sudanese club Al-Merrikh four years ago, has been handed a contract until the end of the season and will begin his tenure against league leaders Lincoln on Saturday.

Rotherham have won only one of their last nine matches and sit six points from safety with nine games left.
