'Dangerous and violent' man jailed over Kelham Island attack
It's after a 31 year old man was seriously injured in December 2023.
A Sheffield man dubbed a 'dangerous and violent individual' has been handed a six year prison sentence, for seriously injuring another man in Kelham Island.
26 year old Lester Ramsey, of Skelton Close, launched an unprovoked attack on his victim at a club at around 10:30pm on December 9 2023.
He suffered serious injuries and was treated in hospital.
Ramsay was arrested three days later after being linked to the scene via CCTV.
He was found guilty of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm following a nine day trial at Sheffield Crown Court in February.
Last Thursday (May 8) he was handed a prison term, with a four year period on licence.
DC Brown, the officer in charge of the case, said: “Ramsey is a dangerous and violent individual who thoroughly deserves to spend years behind bars.
“This was a completely unnecessary attack which left a man who had hoped to enjoy a night out with friends requiring hospital treatment.
“I would like to thank the bravery of the witnesses who came forward and provided evidence which helped to secure Ramsey's conviction.
“The sentence reflects the severity of Ramsey’s crime. There is no place for violence in South Yorkshire, and we will bring those who are intent on causing harm to justice.”
