Legendary South Yorkshire fundraiser prepares for 15-mile Christmas Day challenge
John the 'Pram Man' Burkhill will begin his challenge at 8am from Chesterfield Royal Hospital
South Yorkshire legend - John the 'Pram Man' Burkhill - says he'll keep on fundraising until he can 'no longer walk'.
The 86-year-old - from Sheffield - is getting ready for his annual Christmas Day challenge - something he's done since 2017.
He's planning to walk 15 miles from Chesterfield Royal Hospital to the Northern General in Sheffield.
John - who's famous for his trademark green wig - says every donation makes a difference:
"I'm always asked a lot of questions about the most important people I've ever met.
"The most important person to me is whoever has just put their spare change into my bucket.
"When I'm shoving my pram on these challenges, I feel that my wife and daughter are both with me.
"They've kept me going during all these races and marathons I've done over the years.
"It might sound a bit daft to some, but that is how I feel.
"I've raised £1.2 million so far for Macmillan Cancer Support - can we get to £2 million?
"Is it a possibility? I think so - we can do it together - the people of Yorkshire will make sure of it - don't worry about that.
"If you chuck 10p in my bucket, then it's 10p more than Macmillan had the day before - so it's got to be worth it.
"Let's just hope we raise as much money as we can on Christmas Day."
John has raised 1.2 million pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support over the years after losing his wife to the illness in 1992.
He also lost his daughter following a routine operation in 1991.
