A 66-year-old man has been sentenced to six years and six months in prison at Ipswich Crown Court for non-recent child sexual offences.

Peter Eason, from Owlthorpe Drive in Sheffield, was found guilty by a jury of multiple offences after a nine-day trial.

The convictions include three counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The offences occurred more than a decade ago in the Woodbridge area, involving one child victim, and were reported to police in 2024.

A Victim Personal Statement read in court detailed the emotional impact of the abuse, noting the loss of childhood and lasting consequences.

The victim's father expressed the emotional toll on his daughter and praised her courage in confronting Eason and aiding his conviction.

Beyond the imprisonment, Eason must sign the sex offender’s register and has been issued a 10-year restraining order concerning the victim.

Detective Constable Shelly Drake, who led the investigation, applauded the victim's courage and urged anyone experiencing similar abuse to contact the police.
