Investigation launched after death of a pensioner in Rotherham

An investigation is underway after an elderly woman was found fatally injured in Rotherham.

Police say they were called to Kiverton Park - sadly the woman died from her injuries.

Officers are asking anyone who may have information to come forward.

A Police statement said:

"An investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Rotherham.

"It is reported that on Thursday 11 September, an elderly woman was found in a property on Peveril Close, in Kiveton Park, with serious injuries. She was taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries.

"On Wednesday (12 November), she sadly died as a result of her injuries. Her family are being supported by specialist officers and are asking for their privacy at this difficult time.

"Detectives from our Major Crime Unit have launched an investigation into the woman's death, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. A scene is currently in place on Peveril Close while officers conduct forensic enquiries."

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Adam Watkinson, said:

"Our priority is determining the circumstances that has sadly resulted in the death of a much loved elderly woman.

"Understandably, we know this will cause some concerns in the local community. You will see our officers in the local area over the new few days while we conduct our enquiries.

"We are particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have seen something not quite right around the Kiverton Park area on Wednesday 10 or Thursday 11 September. Did you see something that looked suspicious or out of place? If so, please get in touch with us. Any detail no matter how small, can be that missing link we are looking for."
