Hundreds of free gigs return to Sheffield with Fringe at Tramlines weekend
Sheffield prepares for city-wide musical celebration supported by local organisations
The Fringe at Tramlines will see Sheffield transformed into a vibrant stage from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th July, featuring hundreds of free performances across the city.
Supported by Sheffield BID and Sheffield City Council, The Fringe complements the sold-out Tramlines Festival at Hillsborough Park, spanning more than 50 venues including pubs, bars, and public spaces.
Attendees can plan their weekend using the official Fringe site at Welcome to Sheffield, Exposed Magazine, and the clashfinder for comprehensive listings.
The Devonshire Green Main Stage serves as the weekend’s main attraction, offering a diverse programme including brass, soul, reggae, folk, dance, world music, and DJ sets curated by Open Decks FC and hosted by broadcaster Dixie.
Highlights include performances from Kiziah and the Kings, Jungle Lion, and others such as Malachite and Disco Choir.
A key highlight is the reopening of the WaterBear Green Room, which will host acts like Disarray and SHUGACOMA following refurbishment.
The Fringe kicks off with the inaugural Music + Wellbeing Conversation at The Workstation on Friday 24th July, featuring speakers from music and research sectors discussing how live music can enhance wellbeing.
Additional venues across the city include Corporation, Frog & Parrot, The Leadmill, and Triple Point Brewery.
Councillor Ben Miskell and Diane Jarvis from Sheffield BID emphasised the Fringe's importance in boosting the city's economy and enhancing local businesses.
First launched in 2018, The Fringe attracts approximately 40,000 visitors annually and generated an estimated £1.86 million in its latest event.
