Lincolnshire man starting 7 year sentence for sexual assault of woman in Sheffield

A Grantham man is starting a seven year prison sentence for the sexual assault of a woman in Sheffield.
37 year old Declan Higgins, of Great Close, targeted a woman in her 20s at a home in the Lowfield area of Sheffield on July 31 2024.
The woman was able to quickly provide a detailed description and a name to police, leading to Higgins' arrest.
He was chagred and latest convicted of assaulting a female by penetration with a part of body / a thing at Sheffield Crown Court, where he has also been told he'll be placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
Detective Constable Chloe Kirk of South Yorkshire Police said:
"Without the bravery of the victim in this case, a dangerous man like Higgins would still be on the streets. I would like to commend the victim, for not only her courage in reporting this to us, but also the strength she showed during the court proceedings."
