Five arrests made as detectives treat man's death in Doncaster as murder
A man died after being struck by a car which didn't stop last night
Police have launched a murder investigation after a pedestrian was involved in a collision with a car which failed to stop at the scene in Doncaster.
South Yorkshire Police were called to the crash involving a 26-year-old man and a silver Hyundai in Prince’s Street at 8.32pm last night (Friday 10th April 2026).
A spokesman for the force said the pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.
Two men, aged 30 and 22, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, with a 20-year-old man and two women, aged 38 and 24, arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders.
The spokesman said that all five suspects remain in custody.
He said: “We are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward following the death of a man in a road traffic collision in Doncaster.
“At 8.32pm yesterday (Friday 10 April), we were called to reports of a road traffic collision at Prince’s Street, Doncaster.
“It is reported that a silver Hyundai was involved in a collision with a pedestrian and failed to stop at the scene.
“Officers and the ambulance service attended and the pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man sadly died at hospital. His family has been informed and is being supported at this time.”
The spokesman confirmed that the street had reopened following the investigation at the crash site.
