Officers have confiscated suspected Class A drugs worth £700,000 in Doncaster following a police raid last week.

Officers targeted a property on Toll Bar on November 26, recovering 7kg of suspected heroin and cocaine along with a 'substantial amount' of cash and weapons including an axe and a meat cleaver.

A man and woman were arrested at the house and have been charged with drug and weapon offences as well as possessing criminal property.

Both remain in custody and are set to appear at Sheffield Crown Court later this month.

Detective Inspector Laura Procter, of South Yorkshire Police, said:

"A lot of planning went into this warrant, which was executed successfully, leading to us removing a significant amount of harmful drugs from circulation in Doncaster."

"We will continue to root out those involved in this kind of criminality, and we thank members of the public for contacting us with their concerns which enables us to create cases, gather intelligence and execute these warrants."
