An MP has said everyone deserves to feel “respected and valued” at work, after allegations of bullying and harassment raised by a senior doctor at Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI).

Dr Timothy Noble has been suspended from his role as medical director at DRI since September 2024. The British Medical Association (BMA) said Dr Noble had shared concerns about a “toxic culture” within Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (DBTH) before his suspension.

A spokesperson for DBTH has previously said the Trust takes allegations of bullying and inappropriate behaviour “extremely seriously”, but said “it would not be appropriate to comment on any specific individual cases”.

Lee Pitcher MP, Doncaster East & the Isle of Axholme, told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS): “Everyone deserves to feel respected and valued at work, and I ask anyone who works at the hospital and lives within my constituency to get in touch if there are any issues I can help with.”

Mr Pitcher declined to comment directly on Dr Noble’s case, which is reportedly due to proceed to a formal disciplinary hearing in the near future.

He urged anyone who feels unfairly treated by their employer to “follow all internal policy and procedures first” and recommended workers seek advice and help from their union.

Sally Jameson, MP for Doncaster Central, and Ed Miliband, MP for Doncaster North, declined to comment when approached by the LDRS.

Following enquiries, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) confirmed it had conducted an “unannounced inspection” at DRI on December 8 and December 9, 2025.

A CQC spokesperson said: “Following concerns received about risks to people, CQC carried out an inspection of urgent and emergency services at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, part of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

“The findings from that inspection will be published in a report on CQC’s website when it’s been through the usual quality assurance processes.

“CQC’s priority, at all times, is the health and wellbeing of people using health and social care services, and all information we receive informs our monitoring of services and future inspections.”

The LDRS approached DBTH for a comment regarding the CQC inspection.
