Doncaster Rovers have announced the signing of Everton forward Frankie Okoronkwo on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at League One rivals Lincoln City, scoring two goals in 20 appearances including one against Rovers in November.

Speaking about the move, Okoronkwo said:

“I’m delighted. It’s been in the pipeline for a few weeks and as soon as I heard about it, I wanted to get it done.

“Game time is the big priority for me. It’s been a tough few months with game time but coming here I feel like I’m going to get more of that and a lot more chances to show what I’m all about and why I should be playing more.”

While primarily a striker, Okoronkwo can also play across the front line. He began his career at Sunderland before joining Everton in 2021 for a reported £1 million.

Okoronkwo made his senior debut on loan at Salford City last season, scoring four goals in 24 appearances.

Rovers manager Grant McCann said: “Frankie is a player we’ve been aware of for a couple of years, ever since he played here against us in the EFL Trophy.

“We’ve kept an eye on him. He had a really good loan at Salford last year and looked really threatening for them until he picked up his injury.

"And then in the first half of this season he’s been in and around a winning team at Lincoln and contributed to what they are and what they’re doing at this time.

“He’s a young centre forward, powerful, quick, aggressive. He gives us the option of going into him or going in behind teams as well.”
