Doncaster Rovers have confirmed they've turned down a bid for highly rated winger Luke Molyneux.

The 28 year old netted eight times in League One last season and he's now looking to move elsewhere.

Rovers boss Grant McCann said: "We sat down as staff, and with Gavin (Baldwin), and I said, look, we need to tie these two down."

"Luke, unfortunately, has not wanted to get into negotiations. He's rejected a deal, which is his prerogative, so that's where he is.

"We've rejected a bid for Luke, so that's in discussion the minute, this came after the offer of the contract - we offered the contract way before the bid. That's where we are with Luke and we'll see how that progresses."

Talks on a new deal for midfielder and club captain Owen Bailey are ongoing.
