A series of raids in Doncaster have seen police seize loaded firearms, ammunition, stolen motorbikes, and large amounts of cash.

Multiple properties in the Highfields area were targeted in the past week, with police suspecting links to serious and organised crime networks.

Searches saw police locate stolen quad bikes, motorbikes, a shotgun, a loaded revolver, ammunition, and nitrous oxide canisters.

The operation continued the following day with a raid on another address.

A man attempting to flee was detained by plain-clothed officers alongside a woman found inside.

They were arrested on suspicion of money laundering after cash bundles were found hidden in the property.

The man also faces suspicion of immigration offences.

Detective Sergeant Mark Jones of South Yorkshire Police said: "Our work focuses around identifying and disrupting organised crime gangs operating in our city."

"These groups threaten the safety of our local communities, bringing violence to people's doorsteps and exploiting vulnerable people who are often recruited to work on county lines and assist with their illicit activities.

"We will not tolerate criminals who threaten the safety of innocent people and that is why we work alongside partner agencies to target these groups, using your intelligence to take enforcement action and protect our communities from harm."

"Your information and intelligence is crucial and helps us to take positive enforcement action so if you spot something suspicious in your neighbourhood, please report it to us.

"We are here to listen, and we are here to act on your concerns so we can disrupt these criminal enterprises and keep you and your loved ones safe,"
