Man handed 32 year sentence for rape and false imprisonment of girls in Doncaster
Bawan Hawre was found guilty following a four-week long trial at Sheffield Crown Court
A man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for the sexual abuse and exploitation of seven young girls in South Yorkshire.
Bawan Hawre was found guilty of multiple offences related to child sexual exploitation after a trial lasting four weeks at Sheffield Crown Court.
A second defendant, Sharam Muhamadi, was also found guilty of modern slavery offences during the trial.
The investigation began in August 2024 when one of the victims told police the abuse she had endured, which led officers to trace six more victims.
Hawre used the alias 'Karo' and Muhamadi 'Jack' when chatting with the girls via social media, drawing them in with offers of e-cigarettes and vapes.
They arranged meetings, transporting the girls from Barnsley to Doncaster, where they were given alcohol and drugs.
The jury heard that six of the girls were raped by Hawre.
Hawre, 28, formerly of Hexthorpe Road, Doncaster, was convicted of:
Six counts of arranging or facilitating travel of another person for exploitation
Two counts of rape of a girl under 13
Four counts of rape of a girl aged 13/14/15
Two counts of adult meeting a girl under 16 following grooming
Two counts of false imprisonment
Three counts of possession of indecent images
A manhunt is underway for the second defendant, 21-year-old Sharam Muhamadi, who failed to appear at court for trial or sentencing.
He is thought to potentially be in the West Midlands, with South Yorkshire Police urging anyone with information to get in touch on 101.
