Police investigate firearms incident in Doncaster
Shots were believed to have been fired in the Edlington area on Friday night
A police investigation has been launched after shots were fired on Gordon Road in the Edlington area of Doncaster.
Officers responded to the incident at around 10.16pm on Friday night, 21st August, after receiving reports of a firearm going off.
Police say evidence consistent with gunfire was found at the scene, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Gordon Road was cordoned off for the investigation to begin.
Detective Chief Inspector Tom Woodward from South Yorkshire Police said they are actively working to understand what happened and catch those involved.
"I want to reassure the local community that detectives are working at pace to piece together the circumstances behind this incident and bring the people responsible to justice," he said.
"We take reports of gun crime extremely seriously - this criminality puts innocent people in danger. There will be additional patrols in the area to ensure the community is safe. Please do speak to officers if you see them and have any concerns or questions."
DCI Woodward urged anyone with information, including doorbell or dash cam footage, to come forward.
He added, "If you were in the area at the time and you have any information, including doorbell or dash cam footage, that could assist our investigation, please do report it to us. The information you provide could be the missing piece we need to progress the investigation and find those responsible."
