Reform UK have suspended a Doncaster city councillor, pending an investigation, over a number of controversial Facebook posts he shared, including one which encouraged people to boycott Muslim-owned businesses.

Councillor Paul Cutts, who represents Wheatley Hills and Intake, removed four posts from his Facebook feed following enquiries to his party by the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

The removed posts included three which targeted the Muslim faith in a derogatory way, including numerous racial and religious stereotypes. The fourth post included a video of people in a UK supermarket wearing Islamic dress and of Middle Eastern or South Asian ethnicity, which read: “England shouldn’t look like this.”

Each of the posts were reposted by Cllr Cutts to his feed and none were original content. Cutts also added disclaimers to other shared posts expressing they were shared “for information” and were not his views.

A Reform UK Doncaster spokesperson said: “Reform UK Doncaster is aware of social media posts attributed to Councillor Paul Cutts that have been brought to our attention.

“Reform UK does not support or condone content that targets or disparages individuals or communities on the basis of race or religion. Such content is not consistent with the standards expected of Reform UK representatives.

“In light of these concerns, Councillor Paul Cutts has been suspended from the Reform UK group pending a formal investigation. This suspension allows the matter to be examined fully and fairly.

“As this is an ongoing matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

Cllr Cutts is not the only Doncaster Reform UK councillor to have their social media activity raised in the press since their election in May 2025.

Hatfield ward’s Cllr Mark Broadhurst was booted from the Reform UK group less than a month after the elections over posts described as transgressing the standards of a councillor by then-group leader Cllr Guy Aston.

Cllr Isaiah John Smith-Reasbeck distanced himself from old posts on X when he was elected a councillor for Bentley ward at a by-election in August 2025. He told the LDRS he was 18 at the time of the posts and no longer stood by them.

Cllr Paul Cutts declined to comment.
