Doncaster chippy 'well set up' to deal with ongoing heatwave
We've been speaking to Craig Avery from Quayside Fish & Chips in the city centre
Staff at a South Yorkshire chippy tell us they're 'well set up' to tackle any kind of adverse weather conditions.
An amber warning of extreme heat is currently in place across the region.
Craig Avery is from Quayside Fish & Chips in Doncaster - He admits the higher temperatures aren't ideal whilst they're cooking:
"I've noticed it is getting really, really hot in the afternoon.
"The hottest time for us is when we turn everything off at the end for the clean down.
"The doors get shut and we're cleaning everything - sweat is pouring off us then.
"We've got a lot of grease in here, so you have to use hot water and soap.
"I'll be cleaning around the pans while the others start mopping up, so that's probably the time of day when we feel the heat the most.
"While we're serving, the extraction from the fryers takes a lot of heat out.
"We've got fans and air conditioning units.
"The canopies on the front keep the direct sun from coming into the shop.
"We've got the doors open too, so there is some breeze coming through.
"We have the air con unit on; it's only a little one but it does help keep us all cool."
The amber weather warning of extreme heat is set to remain in place until midnight tonight.
