Doncaster burglar jailed after stolen goods found in garden
The 39 year old was found to have stashed items he'd stolen in a garden - he was caught trying to retrieve them
A Doncaster man has been sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for burglary after multiple stolen items were discovered in a garden.
Robert Sword was identified by a burglary victim from CCTV footage in a garden on Willow Crescent in Thorne in April.
Sword had stashed stolen goods there, following two overnight burglaries in the area.
Police arrested the 39 year old at his home and recovered multiple stolen items, including car keys, bank cards, jewellery, laptops, and designer sunglasses.
A search also revealed a backpack containing a crowbar, screwdriver, balaclava, gloves, and torches in the garden shed.
Despite making no comment during his police interview, Sword admitted to two counts of dwelling burglary and theft at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court.
He was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday.
