Doncaster burglar jailed for four and a half years after DNA found on screwdriver
The 26 year old stole keys, cash, and jewellery worth thousands.
A Doncaster man has been jailed for four-and-a-half years in prison after he was linked to multiple burglaries through his DNA.
Nathan Peacock, 26, of Palm Avenue in Armthorpe, was implicated in a burglary in Finningley, during which he stole keys, cash, and jewellery worth thousands.
Police found a discarded screwdriver that was forensically examined, resulting in a DNA match with Peacock.
Peacock also stole a Mercedes from Fishlake, with further forensic analysis of the steering wheel confirming another DNA match.
He was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on June 10 after pleading guilty to burglary, driving while disqualified, and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.
PC Sammy Thorpe, the officer in charge, remarked: "We see first-hand the devastating impact of residential burglaries and that is what drives us to secure justice on behalf of victims in Doncaster."
"It's an invasion of your privacy to have your home broken into and Peacock showed absolutely no regard for his victim when he rummaged through a person's home before stealing thousands of pounds worth of precious possessions."
"Peacock is now behind bars and I hope this sends a clear message to anyone engaging in this type of criminality that we will find you and we will strive to put you before the courts so you can answer for your actions."
Peacock has also been banned from holding a driving licence for six years and three months.
