Defender James Husband returns to Doncaster Rovers
The former academy player rejoins club ahead of 2026/27 season
Doncaster Rovers have announced the signing of left-back James Husband, who returns to the club on a two-year contract.
The Leeds-born 32-year-old came through the Doncaster Rovers Academy and initially made 73 appearances for the club.
Following his departure, Husband built a successful career across League One and the Championship, playing for Middlesbrough, Fulham, Huddersfield Town, and Norwich City, before spending six years at Blackpool.
Speaking to the Terriers website Husband said, "I was really young when I left. I owe this place a huge amount for my whole career and I just want to come back and repay that to the football club and all the fans."
To Rovers supporters, he added, "I'll give everything I've got, every single day, and try to make this club as successful as possible. This place holds a special place in my heart and I can't wait to get back out there."
Manager Grant McCann said: "He had a really good spell here before. He knows the football club and that's important, he knows the DNA of this club, he knows what it means to play for Doncaster Rovers.
"He was over the moon about coming back, returning to a club where he came through the academy and into the first team.”
