A man has been arrested and a police cordon is place in Sheffield after a 'suspicious device' was discovered at a block of flats.

Officers were called to Washington Road, close to Sharrow Lane, earlier today.

A 56 year old man is being questioned on suspicion of making threats to kill.

A police cordon has been in place for much of the day, though explosives experts don't think the device found poses a wider risk to the public.

Locals have been able to rest at the nearby Sharrow Community Forum as police continue to make the area safe.
