Concern over potential rise in youth homelessness in South Yorkshire ahead of 2026
It's feared more young people could end up getting kicked out onto the streets once the festive season ends
There's concern homelessness in South Yorkshire 'could go up' - with the new year approaching.
As families tend to unite over Christmas - the trend is often that more people get kicked out onto the streets in January.
Ben Keegan is from the charity Roundabout - who work with young people in Sheffield & Rotherham:
"Nobody wants to kick somebody out just before Christmas.
"But once that is out of the way, the underlying issues are often still there, so people end up having to leave their family homes and come to us.
"In January, we always see a spike in people becoming homeless.
"So, we want to urge people to think about homelessness all year round, and not just at Christmas."
