Man charged after 80 year old 'choked unconscious' in Clay Cross bus station assault

Police are urging witnesses to come forward

A man has been charged after an 80 year old was choked unconscious during a serious assault last night in Clay Cross.

The attack happened around 10:20am on May 20 at the bus station off Market Street.

The victim suffered neck and ear injuries and needed stitches, but is expected to make a full recovery.

28-year-old Ryan Godfrey, of Church Avenue in Danesmoor has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, and threats to kill.

He's being held on remand ahead of a court appearance.

Derbyshire Police are urging any witnesses to get in touch on 101, as they continue to build their case.
