Staff at Chesterfield Royal Hospital have been commended after a big cut in waiting times for routine operations.

At the end of March over 61% of patients were waiting less than 18 weeks from referral to treatment, a 7.9% improvement since January and the second best result in the Midlands.

In the past year, Chesterfield Royal Hospital managed 9,245 surgeries, ten million tests, and 341,607 new follow-up appointments - a record number.

Dr Hal Spencer, trust Chief Executive, said, "This progress is down to the incredible commitment of our staff."

"Our teams have gone above and beyond to make sure patients continue to receive high‑quality care, even in the face of service disruption and unprecedented demand.”
