Two drug dealers have been jailed after their car was pulled over in Chesterfield earlier this.

Police spotted a Seat Leon suspected of being linked to the sale of drugs on St John's Road in Newbold on March 12.

The suspect car led them on a shot chase before being forced to stop.

22 year old passenger Tyler Elliot of Manvers Road in Sheffield ran off but was arrested a short time later.

He was found to be carrying crack cocaine and heroin as well as two Kinder eggs containing wraps of drugs, cash and three mobile phones.

Driver 51 year old Gary Day, of Curbar Curve in Inkersall was also arrested, with his mobile phone found to contain messages linked to Class A drug dealing.

Elliot was charged with two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.

Day was charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

The pair have now been handed sentences of three years nine months and three years ten months respectively.

PC Lee Taylor, of Derbyshire Police, said: “We know that drugs have a huge impact on our communities and are committed to doing all we can to tackle the supply of illegal substances.

“These two men were clearly involved in bringing drugs into our community so I am pleased that they are now paying the price for their actions with a spell in prison.

“I hope that these sentences send a clear message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in Derbyshire. We will investigate and we will bring you to justice.

“I’d urge anyone with any information about drug dealing in their area to please contact us. Let’s work together to ensure people like this can’t continue their business and cause further damage to our communities.”
