Boys, aged 12 and 13, questioned over vandalism at Chesterfield Cricket Pavilion
The trio, aged 12 and 13, were caught on CCTV drawing graffiti and breaking windows
Three boys have been spoken to by police after causing damage to Chesterfield Cricket Club’s pavilion.
The trio, aged 12 and 13, were caught on CCTV drawing graffiti, breaking windows, and removing coping stones at the club on November 7 2025.
Following the release of a CCTV appeal, the youths were identified and attended voluntary interviews. Each has since signed a voluntary Acceptable Behaviour Contracts issued by Chesterfield Community Safety Partnership.
The agreements outline terms the boys must abide by, including working with support agencies. Breaching these contracts could result in legal action.
Inspector Josh Carter, of Derbyshire Police, said:
“I’d like to thank everyone who responded to our appeal about this incident, as it helped us to identify those involved.
“This was intentional criminal damage, and we will not tolerate it.”
“A number of young people from the Chesterfield and wider northeast Derbyshire areas were dispersed from the town centre during this and taken home.
“I would again urge parents and carers to make sure they know where their children are and what they are up to, as we all have a responsibility to manage this behaviour.
“We have in-person meetings planned with the parents and carers of those dispersed over the weekend, and we will also be issuing banning letters on behalf of businesses which are persistently being targeted.”
