A burglar who drove the wrong way down Sheffield Parkway, before being chased down by a police dog, has been jailed for more than two years.
23 year old Ephrain Enogunmwmgie, of Farish Place in Sheffield, was pursued by police at around 4:20 on January 19.
He took greater and greater risks in an attempt to avoid arrest, speeding at more than 70mph in a 30mph zone and driving on the wrong side of the road.
When his vehicle was stopped, Enogunmwmgie was pursued by PD Arlo - who managed to catch him.
The car Enogunmwmgie was driving, a white VW Polo, was later found to be stolen from an address in Darnall.
The 23 year old was found in possession of a key for the house targeted, as well as a screwdriver and cannabis.
He admitted burglary, dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance and possession of a Class B drug at Sheffield Crown Court - where he was also sentenced for assaulting emergency workers last year.
He was handed a two year eight month prison term.
PC Louise Atha of South Yorkshire Police said: "Enogunmwmgie's reckless criminality in January of this year put himself, other road users, and our officers in danger.
"He showed absolutely no regard for the safety of others in his desperation to avoid arrest, but we responded quickly, collaboratively, and used a number of effective tactics to stop him in his tracks.
"We won't tolerate drivers who put innocent people in danger on the roads of South Yorkshire - or those who make homeowners feel unsafe by breaking into the place where they should feel most secure.
"I'm pleased Enogunmwmgie has been given an immediate custodial sentence and hope this result serves as a reminder to those intent on committing crime in South Yorkshire that you will be caught and made to answer for your offending."
